Pun-lovers Birthday Card

David, is a special guy. He’s special because he’s one of mine and my husband’s closest friends, but extra special because he’s also a local sheep farmer and that is really cool! David runs the farm with his dad, Jim, who is also a wonderful guy, so when David asked me to make a card for his dad’s birthday, how could I say no?

I asked David if he wanted anything in particular and he just replied, in David-style, “maybe something sheepy?” and to say ‘dad’. I’m always looking for a play on words and those of you who know or are ever around my husband and I and our pun-loving friends, know it’s always a battle of the wits.

So the conversation went something like this:

Me: ooo, I could put “aaaaaapy birthday”

David: “yeah, he might appreciate a bit of ewemour!”

Me: ooo, good one! I might just do a new card range after this that says “aaaaapy birthday to ewe”

David: That might be very ewesful!

Needless to say, of course I made David’s card and then proceeded to make the EWE birthday cards too! Hope you like them.

David’s card for Jim:

sheepbday1

sheepbday5

And the “EWEmourous” birthday cards:

sheepbday2

sheepbday3

sheepbday4

These square cards were printed in black ink on 100% cotton paper using vintage printing block and lead type. They come with a brown, ribbed envelope.

Fresh off the press: Classic Car Birthday Cards

I love, love, love old printing blocks. But, you often take what you can find and that means a limited selection which means the blocks guide you into what you print if that makes sense? Basically, I wanted to make card with this classic car printing block, so just had to think of a nice strap line to go with.

So, yes, some people in your life are getting old, but you can break it to them gently. Say it nicely.

These cards were printed using a vintage printing block and traditional lead type. Printed on an Arab printing press on Hahnemuhle and Somerset cotton papers.

You can purchase this card in our SHOP.

Letterpress Video: Like it’s 1910

Sometimes, I feel like like I’m working in another era. Love this video and the music’s great too!

(and before the critics moan, yes, there are few ‘hiccups’ but still a great video otherwise)
